Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Mike McCaul (R-TX) told Candy Crowley that LAX shooter Paul Anthony Ciancia was suffering from mental illness, as demonstrated by the suicide note that he left behind. The Chairman also said that the suspect’s family had alerted local New Jersey authorities about Ciancia earlier that morning, who then, passed this warning on to L.A. police but they “missed him by literally probably 45 minutes,” said McCaul.
