Eyes are on the state this week on the eve of the Ames Straw Poll, considered to be the first big test of strength for GOP candidates. It has been a busy week leading up to the big event with Republican candidates flooding the state to drum up support and Texas Gov. Rick Perry joining the fray.
Candy will talk to two GOP presidential candidates competing in the straw poll. First, she’s leading the polls in Iowa, Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann; and then former Godfather's Pizza CEO and radio talk show host Herman Cain.
Then we’ll talk to Tea Party power broker Rep. Steve King of Iowa about the new battle for conservatives between Bachmann and Perry and Iowa’s role for Republicans in the 2012 race.
Finally Candy talks with reporters Neil King and Philip Rucker for analysis on the results from the Ames Straw Poll and a busy week of politics.

Saturday is the much-hyped Ames Straw Poll, often called the first real test of the Republican presidential candidates. Coupled with Sarah Palin’s freshly announced scheduled appearance at the Iowa State Fair (with all of its fried delicacies), the Hawkeye State is the political epicenter of the week. So, of course, that’s where you’ll find Candy. She’ll be reporting from Iowa starting Friday, and “State of the Union” will be live from Ames Sunday morning.
