With one candidate jumping in and another bowing out, the GOP presidential field grabbed a lot of attention over the weekend. This week, it’s the president’s turn.
He launched a 3-state bus tour across the Midwest-holding townhalls, chatting with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, and promising Americans that the economy is issue #1. Case in point: word leaked that President Obama will deliver a speech next month that will offer ideas to put the economy back on track. The White House is hoping voters are listening, as more and more polling shows the president is losing ground with key demographics for 2012. And the Republican candidates aren’t exactly taking the week off, just ask Rick Perry about his thoughts on Ben Bernanke and the Federal Reserve.
There’s a lot to dig into this week, so options are still up in the air. We’ll post the latest SOTU updates as they come in. Thanks for reading!
